An eSIM for Turkey on eSIM SOS costs from $3.46 for 1 GB valid 7 days (as of October 25, 2026), runs on Vodafone Türkiye (some plans also on Türk Telekom), and is up and running two minutes after you land. This guide covers everything people ask before a trip: how much data a week's holiday needs, how eSIM compares to roaming and to a SIM card from the airport, how to activate the profile step by step, and what to do if the network does not appear.

How much an eSIM for Turkey costs

Turkey plans form a "data × validity" matrix: the bigger the package, the cheaper each gigabyte. The cheapest plan is 1 GB for 7 days at $3.46 (as of October 25, 2026); the full list with live prices and the price per GB is on the eSIM for Turkey page, because the supplier catalog updates automatically.

1 GB7 daysa weekend: maps, messengers, taxis
3 GB15 daysa week without video
5 GB30 daysa week or two with social feeds
10 GB30 daysa week with video and stories
20 GB30 daysheavy use or a long stay
up to 50 GBup to 365 dayslong stays and remote work

Prices are shown in US dollars. Crypto is charged at the current exchange rate; bank cards issued in Russia and SBP are charged in rubles at the Central Bank rate on the day of payment.

For comparison, a tourist SIM card from a carrier desk at Antalya or Istanbul airport sells for roughly $40–80 for 10–20 GB with a local number, after a queue and a passport check. Home-carrier roaming packages vary widely, but a week of data in Turkey typically costs several times more than an eSIM package of the same size. Check your own carrier's roaming page: those prices change more often than eSIM plans do.

How much data to take for a week

A week without video fits into 3–5 GB: maps and navigation use 50–100 MB a day, messengers and social feeds 200–400 MB, hotel search, taxis and a translator another 100 MB or so. If you plan to stream video, post stories or share your connection with a second phone, budget 1–2 GB a day, so 10 GB for the week.

It is cheaper to buy one package with a margin than to top up on the spot: larger packages cost less per gigabyte. If the data still runs out, top up the same eSIM without a new QR code: in the eSIM SOS Telegram mini app, open "My eSIMs" → "Top up". This works while the eSIM is still valid and installed on the phone. If you travel as a couple, two separate profiles are better than tethering from one phone: tethering drains the battery quickly, and a second profile costs as little as the cheapest plan.

Which network the eSIM uses in Turkey

Turkey has three mobile carriers: Turkcell (the largest, around 40% of the market), Vodafone Türkiye and Türk Telekom. Travel eSIMs connect to one or more of them as a roaming profile, and our Turkey plans connect to Vodafone Türkiye (some also to Türk Telekom): once the line is on, the Turkish network name appears in the status bar. The specific network is listed in each plan's description in the catalog.

The main standard in the country is LTE-Advanced, which the carriers market as 4.5G. In 2026 the carriers began rolling out 5G in the big cities, but on the coast and in Cappadocia you should count on 4G. Coverage is dense in the resorts of Antalya, Alanya, Kemer and Bodrum and throughout Istanbul. Gaps are possible in the mountains along the Lycian Way, on remote beaches and deep in the valleys.

Speeds in tourist areas are lower in high season than in winter, because thousands of hotel guests share the network. It is more than enough for maps, messengers and Telegram calls; 4K video calls are not always smooth.

How to activate the eSIM in Turkey

Install the profile at home over Wi-Fi: scan the QR code from the email, wait for "Done", and do not turn the line on until you land. The validity period starts at the first connection to a Turkish network, not at installation, so installing early costs nothing.

After landing:

  1. Open Settings → Cellular (on Android: Connections → SIM manager).
  2. Turn on the new eSIM and set it as the line for mobile data; keep your home SIM for calls and SMS.
  3. Turn on Data Roaming specifically for the eSIM line. Without this the internet will not appear; it is the most common reason people contact support.
  4. If there is no network after 2–3 minutes, toggle Airplane Mode off and on, then select the network manually (Vodafone TR).

A detailed walkthrough is in how to activate an eSIM abroad, and the list of compatible phones will tell you whether your device supports eSIM. Note that iPhones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau do not support eSIM, and phones bought on a carrier contract may be locked to that carrier's SIM.

Do you need IMEI registration in Turkey

No. Turkey requires IMEI registration for phones that use Turkish SIM cards for an extended period: without registration the device is cut off from local networks after 120 days. A travel eSIM works as a roaming profile of a foreign carrier, and this requirement does not apply to it. There is nothing to register at the airport or at a carrier store.

Payment and delivery

The order takes two minutes and requires no registration and no app: pick a plan, enter your email, pay, and the QR code appears on the confirmation page and arrives by email. Payment: crypto (USDT, TON) from any country; bank cards issued in Russia (Mir, Visa, Mastercard) and SBP are also accepted, in rubles.

It is best to buy before you fly. An eSIM SOS profile is installed through the phone's settings from a QR code, no app is needed, and the website is used only for the purchase, so you can do everything at home over Wi-Fi.

If the eSIM isn't compatible with your phone, including a carrier-locked one, or does not work, you get a refund or a replacement eSIM. It is still worth checking compatibility before buying, so the internet works right away.

eSIM wins on price and time. An airport SIM makes sense only if you need a Turkish number for calls, and roaming is convenient for a day or two when you barely use data.

What to do if the internet does not appear

First check three things: the eSIM line is on, Data Roaming is on for that line, and that line is selected for mobile data. Then toggle Airplane Mode and select the network manually. If that does not help, write to support on Telegram or by email: replies usually come within an hour during the day, and the issue is resolved the same day.

FAQ

How much does an eSIM for Turkey cost?

On eSIM SOS, Turkey plans start at $3.46 for 1 GB valid 7 days (as of October 25, 2026). Larger packages go up to 50 GB with validity up to 365 days; live prices for every plan are on the eSIM for Turkey page.

Which network does a travel eSIM use in Turkey?

Our Turkey plans connect as a roaming profile to Vodafone Türkiye (some plans also to Türk Telekom). The network name appears in the status bar once the line is on, and the exact carrier is listed in each plan's description.

Do I need to register my phone's IMEI in Turkey for a travel eSIM?

No. Turkey's IMEI registration rule (after 120 days of use) applies to phones using Turkish SIM cards. A travel eSIM works as a foreign roaming profile and is not subject to it.

Should I activate the eSIM before departure or after landing?

Install the profile at home over Wi-Fi by scanning the QR code, but turn the line on only after landing. The validity period starts at the first connection to a Turkish network, not at installation, so installing early costs nothing.

Does the eSIM work without an app?

Yes. The profile is installed through the phone's settings from a QR code; no app is needed and the website is only used for the purchase, so you can buy and install it at home before you travel.

Does the eSIM give me a Turkish phone number?

No, it is a data-only plan. Calls and messages work through WhatsApp and Telegram, and your home SIM stays in the phone for regular calls and SMS.

How can I pay for an eSIM for Turkey?

Pay with crypto (USDT TRC20 or TON) from any country; bank cards issued in Russia (Mir, Visa, Mastercard) and SBP are also accepted, in rubles. No registration or app is required: choose a plan, enter your email, pay, and the QR code appears on the confirmation page and arrives by email.
